Let's dive into the MARITIME MUSEUM OF SANDUSKY. We will have a boatload of fun discovering the rich maritime history of the Sandusky Bay area. The museum has an extensive collection of artifacts on display which will take us back in time to the old days of shipping on our great Lake Erie. There are a multitude of interactive exhibits about boat-building, wetlands, and Sandusky's role in the Underground Railroad. Outdoors you can board real Lyman's, see the professional boat workshop and explore other vessels on display. Their gift shop offers a large selection of nautical items, books, t-shirts and more.
Today we will dine at the SALMON RUN RESTAURANT at SAWMILL CREEK RESORT, a lovely resort nestled on the shores of Lake Erie. The natural, breathtaking beauty of the area will definitely add to the ambiance as we enjoy our lunch today. Please choose from one of the following entrees: Apple Cranberry Chicken with an apple cranberry dressing, rice pilaf and green beans or Swiss Steak in gravy with whipped potatoes and chef's vegetable or Soup of the Day with Spinach Salad with poppy seed dressing, strawberries, blueberries, Mandarin oranges, slivered almonds, bacon bits and Bermuda onion. The first 2 choices include a tossed salad. All meals include rolls and creamy butter and beverage. Dessert today will be Strawberry and Cream Layer Cake.
There will be a brief time to explore THE SHOPS AT SAWMILL CREEK after lunch. You will find top-of-the-line fashions, collectibles, fine jewelry and accessories that are unique and oh so chic.
The JAMES H. MCBRIDE ARBORETUM, created in 1984 and covering 50 acres of the Bowling Green State University Firelands Campus is an adventure in itself. This is one of the most beautiful arboretums in the state of Ohio and includes 40 varieties of crabapple trees, a two-acre lake and a paved walking path around the lake which is elderly friendly, and the woodland trail is ideal for those looking for a little adventure on their hike. As a group we will enjoy a program and short walk.
