TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2019: Our motorcoach arrives at 7:30 AM to Lorain County Community College, 1005 Abbe Road, Elyria, where we will load luggage and passengers. At 7:45 AM a breakfast buffet will be served at the John A. Spitzer Conference Center located at the college. We will depart at 8:30 AM. At noon time we will make a stop at the JEFFERSONVILLE OUTLETS for some bargain shopping and lunch on your own. Our accommodations for the next three nights will be at the CROWN PLAZA LOUISVILLE AIRPORT. A COSTUME PARTY AND GALA DINNER at Louisville's oldest theater, the Municipal Auditorium is on for tonight. Masks and disguises are encouraged but not required. Our group will enjoy strolling musicians, phantom violinists and gypsy dancers as you dine. At the conclusion of dinner, we will be treated to the silent movie, "The Phantom of the Opera" starring Lon Chaney which will be accompanied by the world' s largest Pilcher Pipe Organ with more than 5200 pipes.
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2019: After breakfast, we will visit the LOUISVILLE SLUGGER MUSEUM & FACTORY. Enjoy fascinating interactive exhibits and watch bats being made. Lunch will be on your own at a local restaurant. It is time to take the SUBURBAN BOURBON TRAIL. The most famous brands of bourbon call Kentucky home. Today we visit two suburban Louisville distilleries and learn about the history of bourbon and the distillery process along with a tasting. We will return in time for the ROCK N' ROLL, TRICK-OR-TREAT DINNER SHOW. The menu is filled with ghoulish delights including a piece of Jack O-Lantern Pie for dessert. After dinner enjoy live music from the costumed "THE CRYPT-KICKER FIVE' who will perform rock songs from the 60's and 70's along with a few Halloween numbers. After dinner we will depart for Iroquois Park and stroll through the JACK-O-LANTERN SPECTACULAR. This may be the highlight of this tour as there are 5,000 carved and illuminated pumpkins along a 1,500-foot promenade through the park. The displays are accompanied by music and docents to help you along. This has been named the #1 Halloween Event in the country and is something like you have never seen before!! We will return to the Crown Plaza for more entertainment and dancing with "The Crypt Kicker Five."
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2019: After breakfast, we depart for the INDIANA CAVERN CRUISE & MEGA CAVERN. Our group will enjoy a cruise which just happens to be 110 feet underground. Then we will ride the Louisville Mega Cavern Tram which twists and turns through part of 17 miles of underground passageways beneath the city of Louisville, Kentucky. Lunch is on your own today. Tonight's special event is "THE HEADLESS HORSEMAN'S HOLIDAY PARTY." We will be treated to a haunted tour of Churchill Downs. You will hear legends and lore of both the supernatural and the Spooktacular. We will visit Kentucky Derby Museum's Cemetery and climb to the sixth floor of Churchill Downs, where you will learn about her ghosts. Dinner will be at food stations scattered throughout the museum. You will be greeted by friendly spirits, fortune tellers, gypsies and wicked creatures. There will be acrobatic ghosts and witches flying across the ceiling plus a devilish DJ playing festive Halloween songs and videos.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2019: After breakfast, we will arrive at RIVERSIDE, THE FARNSLEY-MOREMAN LANDING. Standing atop a gentle rise overlooking the Ohio River, the Farnsley-Moremen House is the centerpiece of a 300-acre historic site in Louisville, Kentucky. Built circa 1837, the house stands as a testament to the important role agriculture along the river played in the development of our country. Lunch at Z's OYSTER BAR AND STEAKHOUSE will be a treat for all before we begin our travels homeward. Dinner will be on your own at a Cracker Barrel Restaurant in Columbus. We are scheduled to arrive back to Lorain County Community College at 9:45 PM.
