MICHIGAN LIGHTHOUSES
                SEPTEMBER 22-24, 2017

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2017: We will depart by luxury motorcoach from Days Inn in Elyria, 1825 Lorain Blvd at 7:00 AM.  Breakfast is included.  After an early morning rest stop, we will stop at a Bob Evans Restaurant, which is on your own.  Our first stop will be at the White River Light Station.  It was built in 1875 and is situated between Lake Michigan and White Lake.  The first keeper was Captain William Robinson and he and his wife Sarah along with their 13 children spend 47 years at the Light Station.  It is now a museum and all may climb the spiral staircase to the top of the tower or view the original Fourth Order Fresnel lens.  The Gillette Sand Dune Visitor Center, located in Muskegon, Michigan, offers a spectacular view of dunes and Lake Michigan from the long dune stairway located behind the center.    Dinner this evening will be at the C.F. Prime Chophouse & Wine Bar in Muskegon.  We will overnight at the Comfort Inn in Ludington, Michigan.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2017: Following breakfast at our hotel we will depart for the Venture Tour of Windmills and Historic Ludington.  Afterwards we will visit the Pentwater Arts & Crafts Fair featuring over 100 vendors offering handmade crafts and antiques with lunch on your own.  Get ready for the ride of your life as we visit Mac Wood's Dune Buggy Ride.  Board a 4-wheel drive modified vehicle with 4 aircraft tires which carry about 20 persons and ride up and down the sand dunes.  This ride is very safe and offers some moderate dips and climbs.  Picture taking is a must!   The Big Sable Point Lighthouse is one of the tallest in the state of Michigan.  You may climb the tower to see a most spectacular view or you may want to visit the original keeper's quarters which now houses a gift shop.  November 1, 2017 is the official 150th birthday of Big Sable.  Dinner this evening will be at the Jamesport Brewing Company before we return to our hotel.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2017:  After breakfast, we depart for Point Betsie Lighthouse in Frankfort, Michigan.  Built in 1858, this is the oldest standing structure in Benzie County.  The operating light signal remains and the site shines as a treasured landmark to mariners and landlubbers.   Lunch is on your own at a fast food restaurant before we make our final stop at Little Sable Point Lighthouse.   It was constructed in 1874 and along with Big Sable Point Lighthouse, it is one of the tallest in the state at over 100 feet and 130 steps to climb the tower.  Dinner is on your own at a Cracker Barrel Restaurant and our arrival time back to the Days Inn is scheduled for 10:15 PM.
