Let's begin with a stop at the SAUDER STORE AND OUTLET. This hometown-factory store offers beautiful, new, ready-to-assemble furniture and also a selection of scratch and dent items for sale at special prices.
Prior to having lunch, we will have a Step-On Introduction and Information Presentation about SAUDER VILLAGE, which should be very helpful to our group as we make our way through the village today.
Lunch will be in an actual barn today at the BARN RESTAURANT on the premises of Sauder Village. This restaurant is known for its homemade cooking. Relax and enjoy a delicious buffet-style meal.
The afternoon will be spent in Sauder Village to explore at your leisure. The village is home to many craftsmen, all artists in their trades. We will have the opportunity to watch these tradesmen demonstrate their skills in places like the spinning shop, tin shop, weaving shop and broom shop. We will also view woodworkers, quilters, coopers and basket makers as they share their talents with village guests. Please be advised that the historic houses close at 3:30 pm in the afternoon, but the Doughbox Bakery, Quilt Shop, General Store and the Gift Shop will remain open. Note: If you would like to buy baked goods from the bakery, it is best to go there early on. If you wait too long, they may be sold out of many of their bakery items.
FIELD OF MEMORIES ANTIQUE MALL is a favorite stop. The mall is filled with great antiques and they offer reasonable prices. A sample of what you will find includes quality antique furniture, dolls, jewelry, depression glass and Fenton glass, sports memorabilia, crocks and so much more!
There will be a rest stop on the Ohio Turnpike on our way home. Any meal purchases here will be at your own expense and are not included in the cost of the trip.
