RUTHERFORD B. HAYES HOME & MUSEUM AND JAWS WITH PAWS
WEDNESDAY, MAY 1, 2019
Our tour today offers a look into the life of our 19th president, RUTHERFORD B. HAYES, and goes on to experience the specialized training of our super K-9 military and police dogs. Two very different attractions that combine to make an interesting and unusual experience. The Rutherford B. Hayes home is a 31-room mansion and is the centerpiece of his Presidential Library and Museum. This two-story brick home had a wrap-around verandah which the President absolutely loved. After Hayes left the presidency additions were added and remodeling was done. Today the home offers much of the decoration and furniture that was original to the home. The museum features four floors-two for the museum exhibit galleries and one each for the library and for storage. This mission of the museum is to illustrate the life and times of Rutherford and Lucy Hayes, their family and Ohio history. Our group will have a guided tour of the mansion and there will be a self-guided tour of the museum.
This afternoon we will enjoy a pasta buffet at LIVE EDGE located within the DOWN THYME CAFÉ. After lunch, there will be time to explore and shop in the downtown area of Fremont.
Our stop at the Lynnwood Kennels offers an unforgettable K-9 experience presented by retired police officer, Brian Woods. Brian is an expert in police and military K-9 dogs and trains and sells these highly specialized dogs all over the country. They are trained to sniff out drugs, explosives and people. They are also used for protection as they can take down an assailant on command. We will see these dogs in action and be amazed at just how skilled man's best friend can be!
